David is an amateur photographer living in Ottawa, Canada.  Now retired, he has been an Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy, a Landscape Architect, an urban planner, and a federal public servant.
While photography was frequently necessary for his work, it has also been his off and on hobby for over fifty years.  Largely self-taught, David has taken courses at The School of Photographic Arts: Ottawa (SPAO) and attended workshops with Canadian photographers Garry Black and Ethan Meleg to further develop his photographic and post processing skills.
David's photographic interests are varied, ranging from landscape, to abstract, to infrared and to anything else that catches his fancy. For him, the photo coming from the camera is just the starting point in creating a work of art.  David has won several awards in the annual Ottawa-Outaouais Interclub Photo Competition, including one “Best in Show”; he has had photos published in the Digital Edition of PhotoED Magazine, in Photoshop User magazine, in PHOTONews magazine, in the Photofocus "blogazine", and in the Stark-Magazine "e-zine".  David has had several photos selected by the Canadian Association of Landscape Architects (CSLA) for inclusion in their Significant Landscapes / Canadian Landscapes Portfolio, and has also had several photos selected by the Light Space & Time Online Gallery for inclusion in various of their Art Exhibitions.
David is a contributor to Arcangel Images, a stock agency whose clients include book publishers, record labels, advertising and design agencies, and magazine publishers.  He also contributes to Image Conscious, a San Francisco-based publisher and distributor of fine art prints and posters.
